Are You Unhappy?

Are You Unhappy?

“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…Rejoice in the Lord always…”

He is called the Sun of righteousness. There’s nothing so cheerful and warm as sunshine. If you lack happiness, if you lack joy, it’s not because of some lack on His part, it’s because we prefer or we’re looking for something other than Christ. We prefer the shade of doubt and depression over the unhindered cheerful beams of healing warmth.

God is satisfied with Christ. “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Are you satisfied with Christ? Rest in His love, saturate your mind with His truth, and find in Him your hope. Christ is not only necessary, He’s enough.

How tedious and tasteless the hours
When Jesus no longer I see!
Sweet prospects, sweet birds and sweet flow’rs,
Have all lost their sweetness to me.
The midsummer sun shines but dim,
The fields strive in vain to look gay;
But when I am happy in Him
December’s as pleasant as May.

Content with beholding His face,
My all to His pleasure resigned;
No changes of season or place,
Would make any change in my mind.
While blessed with a sense of His love,
A palace a toy would appear;
And prisons would palaces prove,
If Jesus would dwell with me there.
